About Anthony Conroy

Thank you for taking the time to visit my portfolio. I am a seasoned professional with more than 25 years of experience in the fields of journalism and communications. I have worked with some of the top news organizations in the world and my background includes full-time positions as an editor, writer, reporter, designer, photographer and illustrator, working with subject matter from breaking news, hard news, spot news, features, travel, adventure, sports, health and science.

I've been in enough workplaces to know that versatility and experience matter. It's measurable. With my experience and work ethic, I can help elevate your coverage and messaging through accuracy and reliability, assets developed in the high-pressure environment of working in deadline-intensive newsrooms and on news platforms in the publishing industry.

As a designer and editor, i have been entrusted with my publications' largest and most prestigious projects: I was part of the ongoing coverage that won a Pulitzer Prize (for the attack on the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh); as a designer, I was part of a Pulitzer finalist (for Baltimore's draconian system of ground rents); as a designer and a contributor, I was part of the team that won a Georgia Press Association story of the year award (for the mysterious death of Henry Dickerson in Vidalia, Ga.); and as a designer, I have earned multiple international awards by the Society of News Design (SND), along with numerous state, regional and national awards.

I also bring a wealth of experience using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign; am capable of executing projects using MS products, including Powerpoint and Word; and am adept at adhering to AP style.

 

Before heading out into the world, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa., the city where I was born and raised.  I have worked in Baltimore, Md., and Savannah, Ga., and my travels include Europe, Asia, Central America, Canada, the Caribbean, Hawaii and locations throughout the United States. When not enjoying the company of family and friends,  I often can be found enjoying a back road aboard my motorcycle.
